Nina opened B1 Yoga in 2014 bringing a healthful blend of Hatha yoga and Yoga Therapy to the Delaware Valley.  Nina is a former marketing director, with a B.S. from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. After a career in marketing then staying home raising three sons, Nina decided to dive deeper into the study of yogic philosophy.  She began studying yoga in the late 1990s.  She received her 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) in 2008 and began teaching at Body Tech Fitness, Jaya Healing Arts and Stoneking Physical Therapy in Lambertville. She also taught a free weekly community yoga class in St. John's parish center.  Service is part of Nina's path.  She spent 8 years volunteering at Sunrise of Jackson teaching a weekly Chair Yoga Class to 80 and 90 year olds.

Nina discovered the world of Yoga Therapy by chance when she took a 5-day intensive class with Gary Kratsow, founder of The American Viniyoga Institute, at a Yoga Journal Conference in NYC. In 2013 Nina began studying with Joseph and Lillian LaPage at Kripalu School of Yoga and Ayurveda in Lenox, MA receiving her 500 hr-RYT and 300-hr Advanced Certification in Therapeutic Yoga.  She completed her 800-hr Yoga Therapist certification in 2017 and is fully certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

"I recovered my spirit and my purpose through yoga and learned to self-regulate.  I discovered I could live with ease.  The studio was founded in love. I teach with love.  I know all my students will recover a sense of health at B1 as well as discover their OWN strong sense of purpose," said Nina recently.
Nina teaches all levels and all abilities.  "People tell me all the time that they think they are too fat or too inflexible to practice yoga.  Nothing could be further from the truth. The hardest part is really just showing up. There are no mirrors in my studio for a reason!  I want you to feel yourself moving through time and space. I want you to discover your own inner climate. I will help you recharge your soul and feel your full body presence!

Integrative healing drives Nina's studies.  "I don't believe in hope.  I believe there is a solution to every problem," she said.  She continues studies in the field of indigenous cultural healing.  Nina apprenticed with Shaman Dory Cotes.  She shares many age old techniques with her clients.  For Nina healing is more than tending to physical discomfort. It's about finding the root cause in the layers of our energy bodies and our psycho emotional bodies. Nina added to her Yoga Therapy practice by studying Reiki with John and Lourdes Gray at the John Harvey Gray Reiki Center for Healing in Jaffrey, NH.  She is an experienced Master Reiki Practitioner.  She is a Thai Yoga Massage practitioner as well.  Nina earned a certification in Yoga4Sobriety expanding her student base to include folks battling substance addiction as well as maintaining sobriety in recovery.

"I'm so proud that B1 Yoga is known as a trauma sensitive studio in our area."  Nina is a certified facilitator of Dr. David Bercelli's Trauma and Tension Release Exercise (TRE).  This modality is an extraordinary tool to guide the body out of old, deeply held patterns.

Having a "chat" with Nina is a uplifting experience.  "We lose our sense of purpose when we lose sight of our path. We get sad. We forget our innate  sense of joy.  Our bodies start to ache.  But the path is always there. We just have to be brave enough to move through the tangle of self-doubt and step back on that path."

Nina is currently studying to become an RN. "The world has suffered through a global pandemic.  We are collectively traumatized and need to progress forward.  We need collective healing.  I want to add nursing to my bag of tricks so I can be of greater service."

It's our job to be proactive and start our own healing journey. B1 Yoga is just right the place to start that journey now.
